Luxury Outlook
An ambitious exploration into high-end residential markets across the globe.
One of my favorite aspects of my job is my ability to connect with our network of global sales professionals and tour some of the extraordinary properties that our brand has the privilege of marketing. Recently, when Philip White and I were afforded the chance to tour a very special property in Mendham, New Jersey I thought it would be an unbelievable opportunity to share this behind the scenes look into one of New Jersey’s an incredible homes.
When I arrived at the private, gated driveway, I knew I was about to take a journey into an exceptional lifestyle. Though the gracious European-style estate was built within the last decade, it has been appointed with countless authentic antique details which add traditional charm. Many of the antique finishes were hand-picked by the owner as a labor of love.
Upon entering the two-story entry hall, I simultaneously had a sense of the home’s grandeur and its inviting family feel. I immediately noticed the striking spiral staircase and second floor balcony which was punctuated with a custom-made Badari crystal chandelier.
Adjacent to the entry, I can easily imagine the formal living and dining rooms playing host to both lavish parties and intimate gatherings. Above the living room fireplace mantel rests a pair of 1918 Parisian candle sconces. The dining room has hand-painted “Chinoiserie Style” walls, custom built-in cabinetry and rich Mahogany wood floors which also run throughout the home.
The kitchen and adjoining family room is beyond a doubt the heart of the home. From both rooms, there are the most breathtaking views overlooking 17 manicured acres and for which include a resort-style pool with cabana, formal gardens with a Hartley greenhouse from England and an apple orchard. In fact, the homeowner grows her own organic produce on premises.
In the family room, a hidden Media Décor TV in a Severin Roesen giclee is mounted above the fireplace. Among the many chef-quality features in the kitchen are Perrin & Rowe faucets from London, a built-in Miele coffee system and a Lacanche range from Burgundy, France.
The media and billiards rooms are distinctly more masculine with rich wood paneled walls and coffered ceiling. The media room has bronze wall scones that are c. 1910 England, a Crestron a/v system and 110” projection screen which is perfect for family movie night or watching the big game.
This truly special and extremely private home is currently on the market for $7,850,000 USD and is listed for sale with Cheryl Darmanin with Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty in Short Hills, New Jersey.
